THE DISPATCH

The Beginning

A string of attacks in Little Rock, Arkansas had spawned discussion of geopolitics, a $20,000 reward and even a guy dressed as superhero threatening the killer. From August 2020 to April 2021 (so far), the men were stabbed to death. The only woman attacked, survived being stabbed 15 times. With her account off the attack and dark, blurry video, police announced they believed that have a serial killer on their hands.

The killer had not yet been identified. He may not be finished.

The Murders

 Just after 2am on August 24, 2020, the body of Larry Eugene McChristian was found by a passerby. He lay stabbed to death in the front yard of a stranger’s home. Home surveillance video captured part of the attack on the 64-year-old. With no credible leads, the following November police offered a $10,000 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Jeff Welch

A friend stopped by Jeff Welch’s home at 4218 West 12th Street, Little Rock, on September 23, 2020. He found Welsh on the porch, dead. Welsh lived just two blocks from Little Rock’s 12th street substation. He was fatally stabbed in the neck. Welch was 62.

Debra Walker, Survivor

Forty-three-year-old Debra Walker survived a brutal attack on April 11, 2021. While walking in the area of 19th and Marshall streets, Walker was approached by a man and stabbed 15 times. Police found her stumbling around, bleeding from her wounds. She was taken to the hospital, and survived the attack. She described her attacker as a Black male over six feet tall. The FBI began working closely with Little Rock PD, and brought in their Behavioral Analysis Unit to help develop a profile of the killer.

Marlon Franklin

Marlon Anthony Franklin was attacked less than 24 hours after Walker was attacked. Just block away, at 2710 Wright Avenue, Franklin was stabbed to death. After his murder, police publicly announced that they were tentatively linking all four attacks to a single person. Franklin was 40.

Not Caught

Although media and the Internet are creating different names for the killer, as of April 2, 2022, he remains unidentified and on the loose.
