
Robert Charles Browne undoubtedly liked the attention he got from authorities. Once caught for his first murder, he began a years-long confession to Charlie Hess. Hess worked as a volunteer in the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s cold-case unit in Colorado Springs. He became Browne’s rapt audience, listening to confession after confession. Over time, most – but not all – of Browne’s confessions were excluded from him being the possible killer. Find out more about Browne in this Dispatch.
