Presley constantly saw himself as victim – an ideology the FBI calls an “injustice collector”.

Arrest & Trial
Presley Arrested
- December 12, 2014
- Georgia State MARTA Station, Atlanta
On December 12, 2014, less than four months into his murder spree, Presley was arrested for trying to avoid paying fare on a train. He had a gun at the time, and was taken into custody. Police immediately suspected Presley of multiple murders because of the ammunition used. Jenkins and Mims were both killed by a .45 Colt 200-grain JHP bullet, which stopped being manufactured in 2010. The gun was a Taurus “Judge”. Four days later, he was charged with the murders of Gholston and Pearce. On February 5, 2015, he was indicated for the murders of Gholston and Pearce.
Presley Pleads Guilty to Gholston, Pearce
- June 13, 2016
- DeKalb County
The DeKalb County District Attorney advised Presley’s lawyer he would be seeking the death penalty for the murder of Pearce, and a life term for the murder of Gholston. The Fulton County District Attorney also advised they would seek the death penalty for the murders of Jenkins and Mims. Despite having earlier confessed to police, Presley pleaded not guilty on all charges.
However, on June 13, 2016, Presley admitted in court he targeted his victims because they were vulnerable. Three men were sleeping and one woman was petite, and alone. He pleaded guilty in DeKalb County Superior Court to the murders of Pearce and Gholston, thus avoiding the death penalty.
He was found guilty to two counts of malice murder, multiple counts of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Presley was sentenced to life plus 10 years in a plea agreement. The families of both Pearce and Gholston had hoped Presley would be sentenced to death.
