THE DISPATCH
The Beginning
Marcelo Alejandro Antelo, known as Marcelito, was kicked out of his home at a young age. He had become addicted to Paco, a mixture of cocaine residue, industrial solvents and rat poison, and his mother couldn’t stand it anymore. He moved in with a beloved uncle who would be murdered during a confrontation. Antelo would go on to father a child, but was also kicked out of his girlfriend’s home. Homeless and addicted, he often fought with drug dealers and, in a spree, killed at least 4 people.
San La Muerte
Antelo wanted to fulfill his pact with “San La Muerte”, a popular pagan saint in northern Argentina. Criminals are especially devoted to San La Muerte. His promise, according to the police, consisted of committing one murder a week in exchange for drugs, prosperity and protection.
The Murders
Jorge Diaz de Armas, Survivor

On February 21, 2010, Antelo demanded money from Jorge Díaz de Armas. He pointed the gun at his head but de Armas refused and walked away. Nearby, he bought a soda and, while waiting for his change, Antelo again approached him. He wanted the drink, and when de Armas refused, Antelo shot him in the leg.
Santos Valeroso Vargas

Neighbour Santos Valeroso Vargas is killed. Antelo will be charged with but acquitted of the murder.
Rodrigo Ezcurra

Rodrigo Ezcurra, 27, was shot and killed in a robbery in the Rivadavia neighborhood of Bajo Flores in Buenos Aires. Antelo store money, a cell phone and a bicycle, and shot Ezcurra with a .9 mm gun.

Jorge Héctor Mansilla Dead, and Mario Jorge Quiero Survived

Jorge Héctor Mansilla was shot and killed in revenge for throwing Antelo out of the house. The same day, Antelo attempted to kill Mario Jorge Quiero. Quiero was a mechanic and Antelo was angry that the work Quiero had done for a friend was shoddy.
Pablo Zaniuk and Marcelo Cabrera

Pablo Zaniuk, 26, was shot in the face and Marcelo Cabrera, 28, suffered nine shots. Both men died. Antelo had no reason to kill the men other than they were in the neighborhood to buy drugs.

Antelo Convicted and Sentenced

Antelo was convicted of the murders of Rodrigo Ezcurra, Jorge Mansilla, Federico Zaniuk and Marcelo Cabrera. He was sentenced September 14, 2012, to a life term.
